LAS VEGAS BABYYYYYY!!!!!
I am SOOOO excited because in a few days I will be on a flight headed to Las Vegas, Nevada. Going to Las Vegas is on everyone's bucket list (at least everyone that I know). I had planned to take the trip for my 21st Birthday, but things didn't work out right for the people I had planned the trip with. So it was a no go.
My brother called me a few months ago telling me that he and his fiancée were going to Las Vegas and asked if JB and I wanted to go. At the time JB and I were considering going to Florida with a group of his friends. We talked about it and decided that Vegas was a better trip. We started looking at flights and purchased our tickets in March through Expedia. This trip is like my vacation before school starts. I will be coming back home from Vegas on the 22nd and summer session I of graduate school starts the 24th.
One of the qualities that I love about JB is that he has the same mindset about traveling as I do. We both want to do it. There is no reason to NOT travel. As long as you plan and save vacationing and enjoying life can be easy. The money you are using to travel is money that you probably spend frivolously everyday. Money on fast food when you have groceries at home, purchasing shoes and clothes (and even purses), etc. Don't get me wrong have fun but do so on a budget and not everyday. My bucketlist is overflowing with places that I want to visit. Don't allow things such as bills to hold you back from making some of the best memories of your life. You won't regret playing the slots in Vegas, walking the streets of New York while eating a hot dog, or taking a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower. If you haven't make a bucketlist and start planning (and saving). If you have one, well start checking off a few locations.
Have any of you been to Las Vegas? Do you have any suggestions of places I must see and things I must do? I have searched and found a few things, but I would love to know of any great places we should check out.

May Goals
![]() |
| C/O Google |
Is it just me or did it seem like April really flew by? I didn't get a chance to do April Goals *slap me* but I am here for the May goals. I did accomplish a few big things in April. I got accepted into the Advanced Standing Program for the School of Social Work, got an internship for graduate school, and ended the month by going to a comedy show, JB and I attended the Katt Williams: Conspiracy Theory (marked off on 101 in 1001).
Spring time and summer school. I start summer school at the end of May right after I come back from my trip. I am already dreading these long nights I know that are sure to come. My relationship with the Public Library and Starbucks will get even better knowing how much time I will be spending there.
MAY GOALS:
1. Graduate school necessities. I feel like I haven't been to school in a while and honestly, it has only been a couple of months. Not only do I need to look into what books I will be needing for class (so I can purchase them on Amazon), but I also need to get new notebooks and I really want to get a great planner for this new school year.2. Finish The Wait. This is the book by Meagan Good and her husband Devon Franklin. The book actually came out the first week of February. My book was late coming to me because I got the autographed copy and they ran out of books. So when the book finally came I was already reading The Gentlewoman and moving and trying to straighten out my room. Sooo I technically didn't start reading until the end of April.
3. Pack for trip. JB, my brother, my brother's fiance, and I are all going to _____. I post will be up talking about where we are going and the things I hope to do in ______.
4. Organize iTunes Library. It just needs a lot of TLC to put it mildly.
5. Running..Walking...Treadmill. I was doing pretty good when I would go walking with my mother in the evening times. However, when I got sick back in March I didn't start back. I need to motivate myself more. I am hoping to start it back up.
6. EpicBlogPlanner.. I purchased this planner from Amazon. I'm not sure how this has worked for other bloggers, but I am hoping that it does something for this novice over here (ME).
What are you May Goals?

Beyonce's Lemonade

“You know you that b***h when you cause all this conversation.” She spoke it.
Are these issues with Beyoncé and Jay Z's relationship real? I mean let us
look back shall we, Ring the Alarm, Irreplaceable, and let us not forget my
ultimate favorite Resentment. Beyoncé has been speaking of infidelity in her
relationship or simply giving women a song to relate to. With these songs Beyoncé shows that just like us regular folks she gets her heart broken, she is human, and she can be hurt by love.

Not too long ago my little sister and I had a conversation
about Beyoncé. I’m not an overzealous fan or a member of the hive, but I enjoy Beyoncé’s
music. I had the opportunity to attend her On the Run Tour in New Orleans, and
I was pleased with the performance. I would love to see her on tour again. In
all of her albums there are few songs that I can honestly say that I dislike.
The 2013 Beyoncé album was one that played in my car for a few months and I would
listen to the entire thing only skipping when I was in need to hear my
favorites.

Music these days is a beat and deadbeat lyrics. Some of it
has no meaning nor substance. Listen to the lyrics that Beyoncé brings above
the beat. Personally, I love the
narratives at the beginning of each song. I think that her music is relateable which is what matters to an audience. Music is supposed to make you feel,
make you heal, and make you think that you are not alone. That’s what this
album is meant to do. This music can speak to the mother who was cheated on by
the father that you adore, while it also speaks to you while you are trapped in
a relationship of infidelity. This album is more than just Jay Z “cheating scandals”
its about love, family, faith, justice (politics), and the process that one goes through and
so forth.

Talk of her adding the mothers of Trayvon Martin and Mike
Brown are going around. Pier Morgan spoke on this issue stating that, “. . .
But I felt very uneasy watching these women being used in this way to sell an
album. It smacks of shameless exploitation.” That’s an idea if I've ever heard
one. My first thought is that Beyoncé does not need to “use” them to sell an
album. She drops an album with no promotion. My second thought was that people
talk about how much influence celebrities have, and how they sometimes do not take
advantage of it. Why is her placing mothers who had to bury their sons not
being proactive in trying to bring awareness? What is the difference in Beyoncé’s
approach as opposed to J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar bringing awareness in their songs.
Beyoncé has the status to make a story with in depth meaning. A story that you
may have to watch more than once to get the full meaning. For him to insinuate
that Beyoncé used these mothers to “sell an album” is ludicrous to me. Beyoncé
drops an album when no one is expecting it and it she blows up social media. Another
way to look at it (and the way I personally see it) is to see the publicity these mothers get to shine on what
happened to their sons.

The album is not meant to for the closed minded. This album
is not meant for everyone. What people have to understand is that even if this
is not your favorite artist it does not mean that you cannot respect her art. We
should be happy that Beyoncé has the platform and has taken the initiative to
push the issue like she did. Beyoncé is not going to be liked by everyone. More
importantly like you and me and everyone else, she won’t be understood by
everyone.
On that note…. When life gives you lemons… make lemonade.

Friday Favorites #8
Let me tell you, the Lord has really been blessing me. For today, Instead of Friday Favorites, I want to do my Friday Blessings. Not that the Lord hasn't been blessing me, but... here are a few blessings
1. Graduate school. I will be in the Advanced Standing Program to receive my Masters degree in Social Work. This program is a year long. We have to do applications, essay, recommendations and an interview. Then the stress comes when summer school starts.
2. Internship. I got confirmation that I would be able to do my internship at the place where I am currently working. My supervisor put in a good word for me and that sealed the deal.
3.Las Vegas. Did I mention that JB, my brother, his fiancée and I are all going to Vegas.... *jumps up and down*
4. I got a call back from my old job (School Board Office) telling me that when school starts if I need a job to call them. They asked if I could come back now, but I had to tell them I was already currently working.
5. A blessing that we sometimes take for granted. My life. I was able to wake up, walk to the bathroom, brush my teeth, shower, put clothes on, get in my car with gas and go, buy lunch, talk with family and friends. See where I'm going with this? I'm blessed beyond measure and sometimes it is the little things that we take for granted.
Thank you Lord.
These blessings my seem small to you, but to know that the faculty had faith in me that I would be able to handle the work of the Advanced Standing Program means everything. I am so nervous about succeeding in this program. The internship is a place where 1) I know that I possibly have a job once I graduate and 2) unlike most internships, it's paid. So knowing that I don't have to work and I am still making a little money is music to my ears. My Las Vegas trip is really sneaking up. I'm so excited. I get to mark something off on my bucket-list and my 101in1001.It's a great break right before summer schools starts. As I stated above I am blessed beyond measure. Blessings 1-4 aren't the only blessings I have received, they just all came at once and to me were really big blessings. I know I don't always see the beauty or the blessings in everyday activities, because I have been blessed with them for so long. But I never want to get so caught up that I forget to tell the Lord "thank you".
So tell me, what blessings have you received lately?
Secondly. if anyone has been to Las Vegas before..... I know it is a lot of everything and the choices can be hard to narrow, but I would love to know what are some spots you think I should hit or the best places to shop and eat.

Friday Favorites #6
It's been a minute since I have posted a Friday Favorite so I thought I would start the month of February off right. Sometimes Friday Favorites are hard becuase not really catches my attention enought to really be a favorite. Is that weird? Okay well, any-who..... Friday Favorites coming right up...
1. The Wait....

So I haven't started reading the book yet, but I am so excited. On Monday JB was kind enough to pre-order the book for me. When I asked I told him he could consider it an early Valentines Day gift. I'm not sure if he agreed or not but I got the book. I'm really excited to read it.
2. One Tree Hill.....
This was a show I remember watching when I was in high school. I think it's the first show/movie I ever saw with Chad Michael Murray. He used to have this "thing" about him. When I first started watching I remember I stayed up until about 3/4 in the morning watching the show. I called my sister and told her she should watch it. I even told her I would wait and let her catch up so we could discuss it. Yea, I am clearly going to leave her becuase she has not moved from episode 4.
3. Kit Kat Minis...
So I am not sure why but lately I have been LOVING the Kit Kat Minis Chocolate bars. I mean sure Kit Kats have always been okay and if i really wanted one I'd get it. Chocolate is always a good choice, and I love it, but for a while now I haven't had a favorite. Well now, I do. I don't think I would enoy the regular size Kit Kats as much as I am enjoying these now. Literally the bite size pieces are perfection...
4. Walk-On......

So back in December a coworker had his farewell dinner at Walk-On. It was my first time eating at the restaurant. I order the Louisiana Combo Platter or something like that. It consisted of catfish, shrimp, waffle fries, hushpuppies, and a cup of etouffee. They weren't stingy with the portions either. I've also tried the Stuffed Burger, Bayou Pasta (twice) and the Cajundillas. Everytime someone mentins wanting to go out I bring up this place. Also their spinach dip and boneless wings and not to mention their Kreme Bread Pudding for all the doughnut and bread pudding lovers out there. So if this restaurant is near you and you haven't tried it.... I defintely suggest going.... Like ASAP

February 2016 Goals
Hey Belles,
I hope the begnning of the year has been wonderful for you. So far my year has been pretty good. I went to Texas to see my sister perform at nationals (Cheerleading). Although they didn't bring home the jacket, they got 1st in cheer 2nd in dance and 10 in fight song. They did really good and I was so proud of my little sister. JB and I also made another trip to Missouri to see his cousin graduate from basic training.
I received some disappointing news regarding the job I was waiting on. Sooo now I am in the process of looking for a job. I must admit I have truly been enjoying my "staycation."
I wrote a list of January goals down; however I see that I never posted them. :(
Along with this new month comes a new list of goals. They are as follows:

Gentlewoman and I Am That Girl....
I have been doing pretty good with my reading. I have not been keeping track on GoodReads, but I have been checking out books from the library and downloading a few on my phone as well. I decided that I wanted to get more into "self-help" books. I think reading these self help books could be pretty beneficial in the long run. I searched on Amazon trying to find any book to start my "self-help" journey off. Let me just say that I ended up having a sheet of paper full of book titles because a lot of books caught my eye. I my even post the list in case any of you readers are looking for some interesting books to read. There were many books that I came across that I have been wanting to purchase just never did. I added those to the list as well. My plan is to compose a list and at least purchase and read 10 off of the list. It will be hard because grad school is right around the corner and that requires a lot of reading, but I am hoping I can do it.
I heard a lot of great things about Gentlewoman: Etiquette For A Lady, From A Gentleman. When I decided that I would purchase a few books I knew this had to be one of them. I know that I am probably one of the last people to purchase and read this book. But that is okay better late than never right... With this being the first book on my list.. I am really excited about what is to come. I have my pens and highlighter ready to start off this book.
The next book I will get into is I Am That Girl. This book was chosen at random. I read the reviews on Amazon and decided to purchase. This is not a book that I have seen floating through my Instagram feed or even the Explore page. This book was really chosen 1) because of the title I Am That Girl: How to Speak Your Truth, Discover Your Purpose, and #bethatgirl ad 2) the reviews pretty much all praised the book. Good enough for me.

2015: 365 of 365
2015 Review
For me 2015 started off rocky and at the end it was a little tricky. Overall however, 2015 has been a pretty good year. I can honestly say that it has taught me many lessons that I plan to carry into 2016. 2015 has been a great foundation year for me as far as growth is concerned. I really believe it has been a time of preparation. I believe that in 2015 I began a journey of growth and self understanding. I do know that my journey is not over and I am even more excited to see what 2016 has in store.
Here is a short list of the few major accomplishments of 2015:
I graduated college.
I got a boyfriend.
I created this blog.
I made a move to Shreveport and got my own apartment.
I went to my first NFL game.
I don't partake in the "New Year, New Me" or the "New Year's Resolution". I do however believe in simply creating goals for yourself. Yes, people there is a difference. In 2015, I created and posted my 101 in 1001 which was pretty much taken from my bucket list Alongside that, I have other short term and long term goals scratched on sheets of paper waiting to be organized and rewritten. In 2015, I created a list of things I wanted/needed to accomplish and I succeeded. In 2016, I plan to do the exact same thing (which I will probably post). I have also came up with other ways to remember and hopefully reflect back on 2016.
All in all I am praying for a great year. I am praying that my life continues to receive blessings and that I am prepared for the changes that God is going to place in my life. I do understand that certain habits, people, desires, wants, etc will get lost in this time of growth. I am okay with that.
2016 is about significantly growing into my success.
I'll just leave this right here......
Happy New Year...

7 Lessons to Learn While Being Single
![]() |
| Not really, but I loved this image. |
I just don't get why most people despise being single. Don't get me wrong, I do get in some instances you do want that male companion. You want a significant other to share your happy moments, lean on their shoulder in sad times, and someone to just show you love.
However, there are so many perks to being single that in my opinion, it can definitely outweigh the bad. Being single is nothing but a lesson. Being single teaches you more about yourself than a relationship will....well at least on a different level.

1. The most important lesson when single is to learn or remember to love yourself. It sounds like such an easy concept; however, it is something that many people don't do. Some think that loving someone else will make them love themselves, or having someone love them makes up for the lack of personal love. It doesn't! Nobody can love you more than you love yourself. I know it feels good to be loved, but a void will always be present when you don't love yourself. And if that is the case.... then you are in trouble. I mean how can you honestly love someone, and not have the strength to love yourself first.
2. Let go of the past. It is easy to regret what did happen or "what if" what didn't happen. Unfortunately, it is over. Let go and leave it in the past. You come up with these scenarios thinking "if only". But let's be frank we can "if only" all day long, it's not happening. The moment is over. You reliving the past is not helping you to be happy in the place you are in life. The best thing to do is learn from the situations of the past and move on. Think of all the new opportunities you will soon face. Now prepare yourself for that.
3. Let the list go. I'm guilty of the list as well. When I was younger I had a list with the qualities of the guy I wanted. It didn't cross my mind that I would ever have to do without some of these qualities. Now that I am much older and more mature, I know that that is the farthest thing from the truth. Don't get me wrong, have standards. But a lot of your list you need to let go of. Remember, you may not meet every quality a guy has on his list either. I mean do you even meet the things on your list.
4. Learn to be happy. There are plenty of people in a relationship and are unhappy. Relationships don't guarantee happiness.
5.Work on your life. You want a man who can bring plenty to the table, but what are you bringing? Don't sit at a table in which you have nothing to offer. Work on yourself and your wants, dreams, desires. You both should be so individually determined that you inspire each other.
6 Single = Mingle. You won't find a guy you want or any guy for that matter by being cooped up in the house. Grab your friends, raid your closet/go shopping, get pretty, go out and mingle. Will you meet Mr. Right the first night? Uhhh prolly not. But don't get discouraged. The first few guys may not do anything for you or they can make great friends. Beware of where you go to mingle. This could determine the kind of guy you will attract. You don't want to find just any guy, so remember to keep your standards.
7. You won't be single forever. Yes, I know you have been single for 3 years and it feels like 30. I know you are thinking that you will forever be single, but you won't. It is only a temporary situation giving you plenty of time to figure yourself out. Make the time you are single worth it.
Being single is a great experience. Everyone should take their single status and make the best of it. Being single is the time that we can learn the most about ourselves. It is the time that we can do things that we have always wanted to do. We can accomplish many goals and prepare ourselves for that relationship that we have always dreamed of. Relationships are not an easy task. The great ones require a lot of time and work. Remember you are not the only single person in the world. There are plenty of others like you. It's okay.
"Being single is the time to prepare you for love."

Friday Favorites
So last Friday I wasn't able to post my Friday Favorites because I was busy taking my graduation photos... When I got back home I went straight to sleep. Now that my photos are done I finally picked a few options to be used for my graduation invitations. I actually love my pictures and will be printing them all out and creating a mini album. Two of the pictures I created a canvas on easycanvasprints.com. They have sales almost everyday and you can purchase a nice size canvas at a low price.
with that being said.... I really want to be selfish and make my whole Friday Favorites my graduation pictures but I shouldn't be that selfish.. (in other words I can periodically post them on my IG).
So here is this week's Friday Favorites.....
1. n the spirit of graduation. I saw this snippet of a video where Michelle Obama speaking a little bit of truth. Check it out...
3. I love watching proposals on YouTube. I love how creative the guys are when proposing to their loves. Here is a cute one from this week.
4. Sooo this weekend I was in New Orleans for The Bayou Classic. I had a great time. I ate great food, watched the Tigers bring home victory.
5.

Thanksgiving (check)... Now Christmas
Hello December,
On Thanksgiving Day I posted on my Instagram that I was not able to blog due to my hotel not providing me with cheap meaning free Wi-Fi for my laptop. Now that I am back home, it seems kind of late to be posting about Thanksgiving soooo yea moving along..
Christmas time is quickly approaching with the Thanksgiving holidays behind us, people are now going to start buckling down on purchasing gifts. I tried to start early this year, butttt.. it didn't exactly work out. Out of about 14-16 people to buy gifts for, I was only purchased about 4-5 gifts. a lot of my shopping will be done online. I love online shopping simply because I can do it in bed. however, I love going shopping because I like going home with my items/gifts right then. It gives me some excitement.
If you are anything like me Christmas shopping is stressful. I always want to make sure that my family and friends LOVE not like their gifts. When I wait too late it just adds on the pressure.
If you are unsure of what to get some of the important people in your life check a few of my ideas....

Let's Be Happy
Life is full of lessons. Some we understand quickly and others
that take time for us to comprehend the purpose. Life is ultimately what you
make it out to be. The first thing we have to realize is that happiness is NOT
a destination. You will NOT wake up one morning and be completely happy and satisfied
with your life. Don’t think that happiness will just fall in your lap. Being
happy is a state of mind, it’s something that you wake up in the morning and
decide to be. It is a choice you and only you can chose for your life. I mean
sure you may be having a bad day, week, or even month, but doesn’t the overall
good outweigh the bad? When you decide to be happy, you are deciding to love yourself
and by doing that you are taking yourself on a pleasure filled journey.
Don’t get me wrong this message applies to me as well. I
have my moments, even days where I just feel like something is missing. I am
not where I want to be. However, I can honestly say that I am working on it.
Maybe not a much or not as hard as I should but I’m definitely working. It’s
progress.
Being happy is a promise we should make to ourselves. I mean
a real commitment promising to love ourselves and commit to living happy. Will
you slip? Yes, and then remember your commitment. It’s not something we should
search for it’s something we exude. It’s a lifestyle. You don’t need the
validation of others to give you a glow when you wake up in the morning. Don’t base
your happiness on those people surrounding you. Being dependent on the approval
of others will eventually ruin you. If they truly love you, they’ll love you no
matter what. Love can’t be forced and happiness can’t be found.

Friday Favorites #4
Hello......
Soo this week was a pretty good week. I didn't have work on Wednesday which definitely made my week go by much faster. I am literally counting down the days until graduation. I'm nervous about starting that whole journey.. However, I am so happy to have that marked off of my list. I mean I'll actually be a college graduate with my B.S.W. That's exciting. LOL
Moving on... Here are this week's Friday Favorites....
1. AKAversary.. Monday (Nov. 9) made one year for me being a part of the BEST sorority. One year down....Many more to go... :)
2. Here by Alessia Cara. I heard this song this week on the radio. I love it. I definitely think I can relate to the lyrics at times.

3. I have been wanting these type of boots for a while now. I saw these when my friend and I were shopping and she pointed out how cute they were. I would purchase them but I am trying to be more responsible with my money especially with Christmas around the corner. Not to mention the fact that I am currently jobless. But these are a totally win. Fulton Leather Riding Boot
4. My High School will be playing their first playoff game tonight. Even though I am a graduate I plan on going. Cheering on my old high school and watching my sister cheer. Go BEARCATS!!!

5. Sometime this week I was in WalMart and I picked up the V8 Strawberry Lemonade. I never really drink V8 drinks, but I love a good strawberry lemonade. It was actually pretty good. Good enough to make my list.
So tell me, what are your Favorites of the week.?

Friday Favorites #3
Today is Friday…. I am so thankful to be able to see the end
of another week. This week I will have house guests so I have to prepare for
them to come over for the week. That includes cleaning up the apartment,
grocery shopping (my fridge is bare), and preparing to stay up all night. My grandmother’s party is this weekend and so
is the GSU vs. TSU football game. I’m excited about the game. We will arrive
early enough to walk around and eat at the fair.
Is it too early to put up a Christmas tree? Last night JB
and I purchased a Christmas tree, decorations, and lights. It was late, but we
put the tree up. This is technically our second Christmas, but it’s our first
as boyfriend and girlfriend (yay!). It’s cool having the Christmas tree in my
boring (for now) apartment. Now all we need to do is load the tree with gifts
so it doesn’t look like a sad lonely Christmas.
As I said in the beginning…. It’s Friday…Which means another
week of Friday Favorites..
1.
This favorite is from last Saturday. This year
people’s costumes really were good. I think a lot of people really put a lot of
thought into their outfits this year. Here are 2 of my favorites.
2.
Since I spoke of the fair… Fried Oreos are
definitely a favorite. I really have been feeling like funnel cakes are worn
out now days. Don’t get me wrong I love ‘em and I even have to try the red
velvet funnel cake, but my first day at the fair I had to get the fried Oreos.

3.
Speaking of Saturday. My friend came down to
visit and we took a trip to the mall. Went into Dillard’s and fell in love with
a pretty little Donney and Bourke satchel.
4.
I have
been looking at these moccasin flats by Michael Kors for a minute now. I got on
Dillard’s just to look around and I see they have a price reduction. UHH yea
score. I’m totally going to purchase these shoes once I get off work. I mean
I’m already blogging illegally. Shhhh...

5.
I had to attend training today at work and this
picture was on the front of our packet. Gave a little humor to my day.

Friday Favorites #2
![]() |
| When you don't get off until 6 on a Friday :(.. My day. |
Sooo this week went by pretty fast to me. I feel like just two days ago I was writing my first Friday Favorites and now I am on post number 2. Oh well, the faster the week(s) fly the closer I am to graduation. This brings me to my first favorite:
- Graduation.. Yesterday I went to order my cap and gown and to take my graduation picture for the yearbook. First off that is probably the first yearbook picture of me since my freshman year (20 years from now I’ll regret that). I also was able to see my name on the graduation list. Although it’s not official yet, it’s so official. It feels great to know that I will soon (hopefully) be graduating.
- Trejos… It’s a Mexican restaurant my coworkers and I went to during lunch. It was really good. I had the chimicanga. It was cooked perfectly with the extra cheese on top. I recommend it.
- Jordan’s. So yesterday I go to JB’s house and he surprises me with the Air Jordan 11 IE Low “Referee.” He says they look like work shoes (lol) and now that he says it, I can see it but I still like them. I think it’s the all black that has me liking them.
4. I have made reference to me purchasing a camera a few times. Unfortunately that has not happened yet. However, I am hoping to purchase one soon and I have been doing research on what to purchase. The Sony Alpha a5000 has been a camera I am paying close attention to. I am thinking that it may be the camera I purchase. It seems to capture great videos and it is small so it will be easy to carry. Click here for the link on Amazon.
5. Last but not least, I’ll leave you all with a quote…..
What are your Friday Favorites of this week??
