Black and Floral

So I’ve decided to sort of document my outfits and outings on here as well. Which means that I/ am sort of playing catch up. There are many pieces that I will not be able to disclose the location in which I purchased the item….. Simply because I’ve had it in my closet forever (most likely never worn) and I cannot remember where it came from. You are probably thinking that if I look at the tag then I could tell you where I got it… But see the problem is I have a habit of tearing the tag off of items that have been in my closet for too long. Yea, it makes me feel better and less of a shop-alcoholic if I don’t see so many tags. Any who, ahead you should find outfits… some cute, some casual, some chic, some you may even consider ugly, and I probably do too but I also find the cuteness in it (you know what I mean?)
Okay first up on the list of Drecia’s Daily Wears…. Is this black flora print dress. I can’t remember where I got the dress from, but I remember it being $7 and I recall thinking I couldn’t let a $7 dress just sit there. I knew I could find a place to wear. As it sat in my closet for a while I grew even fonder of the dress. My little sister hated it, thought it was ugly, she couldn’t see the beauty in it that I could.

My cousin was graduating from high school (Congrats Damien), so I decided I would bring the dress out for his big day. I even got compliments on the dress….

As I stated, my memory doesn't allow me to remember where I got the dress from. The shoes are Steve Madden I got on sale when I went to Texas; however, they don't sale them online either. I have found some really cute other black shoes on their site though (here and here).

Summer 2015 Top 7

My last semester of school is quickly approaching. Next semester I will be graduating with my Bachelors in Social Work. I can say that there are some things that I wish I would have done while in college. You always think you have time for something, that you can do it later… But you can’t. Truth is it went by so fast. I am saying this now and school has not even started. Honestly, it went almost as fast as high school if not faster. It’s kind of bittersweet. All the friends and easy days are soon to be over. *tear*

According to Google, the official day of summer is June 21, 2015. I want to make the best out of my summer before school is back in session. I have a bucket list of things I want to do/accomplish or places I want to go before summer is over with. I have made a sort of vow to myself that I will complete at least seven items on my bucket list. No if ands buts about it. I just hope I don’t procrastinate too much and try to do this the last week of summer. I mean technically it would still be done before summer was over. The seven items I’ve chosen may change as I continue to add to the list, if I find something I prefer more over the other or I may compete more than 7. Who knows?

1. First on the list is starting up this here blog. I chose the summer time to start this because I was hoping it would give me more time to work on and perfect it. This is something I am plan to really put my all into so I felt the summer gave me more time.
2. I want to learn how to do acrylic nails. So I plan to go to the nearest Sally and purchase the mannequin hand and get to work.
3. I want to complete at least 3 DIY projects from Pinterest.
               a. Vision Board
               b. Decorate Wooden Letters
               c. Make a pillow with quote on it
4. Take a trip this summer….go anywhere….somewhere… get out of RUSTON
5.Exercise and eat better
6.Continue to Journal Journal Journal
7.Learn to do yoga

When I finish the overall list, I’ll post it. Until then, what are your top summer bucket list to-do items.??

Loaded Bake Potato Soup

FYI: yes this post is Old.. It was as you will read, the first post I made on the blog that never launched. The recipe is still 2 thumbs up so I thought I’d still share.

Well first things first this is the first food post I am making on my new blog {how exciting!!!}. This is also my first time making Loaded Baked Potato Soup. It was wonderful though for it to be my first time. I love loaded baked potatoes. Like seriously, loaded baked potatoes are like one of my favorites. I love piling mine with butter, cheese, bacon bits, sour cream, green onions (and even sometimes ranch). This Loaded Baked Potato Soup has all that (well not the ranch, but hey if you like it try it).
My two best friends and I went to Chili’s at the beginning of February during lunch. One of my friends ordered the potato soup as her choice on the lunch special. She said that it tasted really good. Now I’ve heard of potato soup but I never tried it. So I decided I would find a recipe and try it myself. I live in Ruston, Louisiana and our weather is very some timing. I knew I wanted to cook the soup on a cold day. But it seemed like when it was cold I had something to do and when I was free it was not cold enough.
Luckily for me, school and work were cancelled because of the weather. Yea, it actually snowed here 1 out of the 4 days we have been out. I have definitely enjoyed my break. Because it was cold, snowing to be exact, and (I had a ride to the grocery store) I had the free time I decided to enter the kitchen and attempt the Loaded Baked Potato Soup.

One thing you will soon learn about me is I am a Pinterest lover!!! From the quotes to the clothes to the food. So I went to Pinterest to find a great Loaded Baked Potato Soup recipe for my snow day. I found it. I loved it. I’m actually anticipating tomorrow to see how it tastes warmed up. My mom liked it and even my little sister who rarely eats anything that I attempt to cook (she is too picky for someone who can’t cook for herself).

My point is……. the soup was a success.

The recipe is as follows:
Ingredients:

*Approximately 5 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
5 tablespoons of butter
¼ cup of all-purpose flour
*3 ½ cup of milk (more milk should be added if mixture is too thick)
3-4 russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
Green onions
*1 cup of shredded cheese
*½ cup of sour cream
Salt and ground pepper, to taste

Directions:

1. Heat a large skillet and add the slices of bacon. When finished transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Set aside.

2. Next, you need a stock pot to melt the butter in over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, you whisk in the flour until it becomes a light brown. Next, you will gradually whisk in the milk. Whisk constantly until the mixture is slightly thickened.

3. Stir in the cubed potatoes and green onions. Whisk.

4. Allow this to come to a boil and reduce the heat. Potatoes should be getting tender. Add your cheese, sour cream, and salt and pepper.

5. Serve. Garnish your loaded baked potato soup with green onion, cheese, sour cream and bacon if more is desired. Enjoy! :)

Spring Cleaning Your Life

SelfPrioritizeResponsibilityInspirationNaturalGrowth
Well technically spring is almost over and summer will be here. However, now that I have my blog more up and running than ever before, I wanted to make this post.
Spring time. You know the season some hate and some adore. The time where we take out all the garbage in our closet and our lives. Yea it’s spring cleaning time.
The older I get the more I realize it is as important to clean out your life to allow new things/people/events/habits (&& whatever else) to take place. Its spring, spring cleaning has arrived. Are you ready?
Why should you spring clean you ask yourself. Good question. I have an even better answer…. It’s simple when you take out the trash, you take out the old stuff the stuff that’s doing nothing but getting in the way, the useless clutter. You take out the trash to rid yourself and your space of things you don't need and no longer have a use for. When you clean out your closet you do the same thing. You clear out the items that  you never wear. There are those special items that even though you haven’t worn it in forever you just can’t part with. I get it, It happens, but majority of those clothes that cause clutter are removed, passed down, or given to Goodwill.
To me this is what spring cleaning your life is like. You not only throw away the negativity, worry and fear, but you do away with those same kind of people. Spring cleaning is good for a new start. You spring clean so new things can fall into place in your life.  Everyone is not meant to be in your life forever. Some people are meant to come in your life simply to teach you a lesson. Learn from it. Don’t try to keep seasonal people for life.
I have transformed SPRING into an acronym. Beginning with:
Self: Most of us have grown up with the lesson that it is not okay to be selfish. But, it’s not selfish to put yourself first. Well, sometimes. You have to take care of you before you can take care, help anyone else. You have to remember that if you are not caring for you no one else will. Say it with me “I will be selfish and I will care for me.” Now say it like you mean it. You have to or else it won’t stick.
Prioritize: You have to plan. Put your life in order. What is it that you want? What goals do you have? What is it in life that you desire? When you figure it out prioritize. You have plan what it is you are seeking.
Responsibility: Let’s grow up and take responsibility for our life. Let’s do away with blame and bitterness and learn that we are captain of our lives. We are the ones who determine our destiny. Don’t blame anyone else for your shortcomings and such. Let’s take responsibility.
Inspire: You need to inspire yourself to become a better you. Sometimes that means doing new things and hanging with new people. If the people around you don’t lift you up why be around them. You need to be inspired because you could unknowingly become someone’s inspiration.
Natural: No I don’t mean hair wise. I simply mean be yourself. Don’t try to be someone you are not. No imitation is necessary. It’s best to work on being the best you. I think it may be a whole lot easier.
Growth: This one word means so much. It encompasses what spring cleaning is really about. It’s about growing into a new you. Becoming all that you are setting yourself up to be. Maximizing your potential. Growth is about figuring out which people, places, and things are no longer suiting you. Growth is change and all change is not bad change.
I'm not just writing to make you change your life. It is something that I am doing as well. I made a list of bad habits that I plan on taking to the dumpster. Here’s a look:

Bad Vibes/Friends/Associates
Comfort zone
Guilt
Unforgiveness
Fear
Pleasing everyone
Lack of Self-Love
Envy/Comparison
Lack of self-esteem
Worry
Negativity
Gossip
Blame

Excuses
Pride
Entitlement
Impatience
Bitterness/resentment
Fear of failure
Unworthiness
Spirit of poverty
Expectation
Lack of self-confidence
Ungratefulness
Selfishness
Self-pity
Doubt

It’s a lot, I know right. No, I am not going to be so lucky that all of these habits will easily fall out of my daily routine and life. I won’t be able to throw away every bad habit by the end of the year either. It is going to take work but acknowledging that I need to take them to the dumpster is the first step. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will the “new” you.  Take your time and work on these habits day by day.

Now, what are some habits you need to spring clean out of your life?

About Me

Hey, I’m Drecia.

I am a student at Grambling State, a sister to many, and friends to some.

I love….

………taking pictures and spending time doing retail therapy.

……….watching movies and reading.

……….quotes.

……….chilling with friends and family

……….Criminal Minds, Law and Order: SVU, and NCIS, TLC.

………..Tyrese D. Gibson and Tarji P. Henson.

………..searching Pinterest for new recipes, DIY project, and quotes.

………..sticky notes&& lists.

I’m not really BOUJIE. Well, at least not completely. However, off first instincts people describe me as shy, stuck up, sidity, and of course BOUJIE. I am considered the BOUJIE one of my friends. *shrugs* Somebody’s gotta do it. I have come to terms with this “title” and now I embrace in a way. I personally don’t consider BOUJIE to be a negative adjective anymore.

To me, BOUJIE is simply having and setting standards. It’s about wanting more than I guess the average Joe or in my case Jane. In my opinion, a BOUJIE girl, lady, or woman is one of the highest quality.

This blog is all about me embracing who I am becoming. It’s something I have always wanted to do but never had to the guts or time.  In other words, this blog is simply a visual diary of me growing into my own.

Welcome to THEBOUJIEBELLE !!!
